We've finally reached the last full week of the 2023 MLB season, which means we have only five more days of home run props before we switch gears to the playoffs. Let's make them count, starting with my three favorite HR props for Monday's MLB slate.
Seattle Mariners starter Luis Castillo isn't someone most batters look forward to facing, but most batters aren't Yordan Alvarez. The Houston Astros slugger has already hit two home runs against Castillo in only nine career at-bats, and he has a good chance to crack another one on Monday night with the wind blowing out to center field at T-Mobile Park.
No one wants to fade Justin Verlander with home run props, but the future Hall of Famer has been susceptible to the long ball in recent weeks. The Houston Astros starter has surrendered seven home runs and 15 earned runs over his last four starts. If anyone is going to take him deep on Monday night, Ty France might be the best bet. France is batting .435 and slugging .652 in 23 career at-bats against Verlander. This number is so high because France has hit just 10 home runs all season, but this is worth a sprinkle with a strong matchup on deck.
Josh Jung is almost an auto-bet whenever there's a left-handed pitcher on the mound. The third baseman leads the Texas Rangers in batting average (.340), OPS (1.026) and home runs against lefties this season. Jung doesn't have a hit against Los Angeles Angels lefty Patrick Sandoval in two career at-bats, but this is a good spot with the wind blowing out to center field at Angel Stadium.
